Measure Quality of Service with TETRA AirAnalyzer from Willtek

Willtek Communications has introduced an analyser for the TETRA air interface. Based on its radio frequency measurement and protocol analysis capabilities, network operators and user groups can monitor the quality of service of the TETRA network, evaluate the inter-operability between the network and a new TETRA radio, and identify handover problems and dead spots; this is particularly important for public safety and security organisations where lives may depend on proper communication tools. Setting the scene for a changing world

As I write my first foreword as President of the Association, I should start by introducing myself to those of you who do not already know me. After 34 years in the Ambulance Service, 17 of which were spent in a Control/Communication Manager role, I retired in May 2006. In spite of this, I am busier than ever in my role as a part-time communications manager to the East of England Ambulance Service and as a member of some committees at the Department of Health; for whom I continue to do some ad hoc project work. I also was the strategic commander (Communications) during the rail crash major incidents at Hatfield in 2000, Potters Bar in 2002 and the RAMP re-patriation arrangements for military casualties in the Gulf War conflict and I took a lead role around the control element of the Buncefield Oil Terminal fire.

Irish Garda selects Hyder Consulting for national assignment

Aeroflex wins five-year, second Measurement Equipment Management Service contract from Thales

Aeroflex has announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract from Thales for the fulfilment of its second Measurement Equipment Management Service (MEMSII) programme in the UK.  The objective of MEMSII is to provide Thales with the most cost-efficient way of providing fully calibrated and maintained test equipment to the exact requirements specifications of its engineers precisely when they need it.  Aeroflex was previously responsible for Thales’ initial MEMSI service contract.
